XC Schooling Days
Info
Prior to each horse trial or Derby Cross, we will offer an 'open' XC schooling day--meaning that the insurance requirement for trainers is waived, but you must have a ground person. This is to allow horse and rider teams an opportunity to accustom themselves to the terrain and other elements of our XC facility--or simply the opportunity to tune up before a competition. Times (approx 1 hour sessions) will be scheduled by appointment, to keep traffic at a safe level for all. The cost for the schooling days is $50, and must be entered in advance, so that we can schedule ride times.
We have an excellent variety of XC obstacles, including 2 water complexes with many options, several banks and ditches, five trakehners, a coffin and two 1/2-coffins, a 'picture frame', and a sunken road complex. The rolling terrain provides both horse and rider with an opportunity to work on their balance across country.
Riders must wear all appropriate safety gear, including an ASTM/SEI approved helmet, a safety vest, and a medical armband or bracelet. A ground person for each rider or group of riders is a must.
Mari Secrist is available for schooling/lesson at $85 per person; this includes the XC course fee. Of course, you're welcome to bring your own trainer!
Please state preferred ride times on your entry form (we'll do our best!).
